Ringmer Walking Football

ABOUT US

Ringmer Walking Football Club is a part of Ringmer AFC. The walking football club was formed to provide an alternative home for playing the sport in this part of East Sussex, following the demise of walking football at Newhaven in 2020.

Our players come from all around the area including Ringmer itself but, also from Lewes, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, Uckfield and many of the other surrounding towns and villages. We also attracted players from the Heathfield area, following the closure of the leisure centre in late 2022.

We welcome anyone who wishes to join us from our local catchment area who wants to get back into a sport they enjoyed playing in their younger years.

We currently run two men’s squads, an Over 50s and an Over 60s, both train on Monday evenings. We do have some players aged under 50, however they are not eligible to play in any Friendlies or Tournaments where there are age restrictions. The participation in Friendlies and/or Tournaments is entirely optional.

PURPOSE

The mission or purpose of Ringmer Walking Football Club is:

‘To provide the organisation and infrastructure to allow those who want to play the sport in the area to do so’.

TRAINING SESSION DETAILS

We train on Monday evenings, 20.00 – 21.30 (19.00 – 20.30 during summer months), excluding Bank Holidays.

These sessions typically consist of a mix of a training game (6 vs. 6, 7 vs. 7, 8 vs. 8, etc) depending on numbers attending on the evening, along with some drills and coaching.

All training sessions plus any of our home games are played at The Caburn Community Ground, the home of Ringmer AFC, King’s Academy, Lewes Road, Ringmer, LEWES, East Sussex BN8 5RB.

Note: The playing facilities are located behind King’s Academy, which is situated on the B2192, the main road through Ringmer village. Access is through the main gate (left gate), then via the driveway to the left of the main school building. There is no access during the school day, when the students are in attendance, this applies to all unofficial visits.

FRIENDLIES

During 2025/26 both our Over 50s and our Over 60s squads will be playing regular Friendlies against local clubs. Home games are typically played on Monday evenings, whilst Away games may take place at other times, or even on other days of the week

TOURNAMENTS

We also look forward to participating in a small number of Tournaments across Sussex throughout the year. These typically take place at weekends, and usually involve multiple games on the same day, allowing for playing opportunities for all squad members.
